The opening of an office block in Cardiff Bay has helped the continued rejuvenation of the Welsh capital’s harbour area and provided a modern working environment for over 150 workers. The building, commissioned by Associated British Ports (ABP), incorporates building services using twin-headed circulating pumps, booster sets and pressurisation units supplied by Wilo. As well as housing ABP’s South Wales regional headquarters, the purpose-built office in the Port of Cardiff is also home to the Cardiff Harbour Authority. The building incorporates a number of circulating units including maintenance-free Wilo glandless pumps. The flange-ended Wilo-TOP-SD units provide twin heads (facilitating duty and standby operation) and three-speed manual control, delivering extraordinary levels of pumping efficiency in temperatures ranging from -10C and +130C. In addition, there is a multi-pump pressure-boosting set featuring an economy controller and pressure and level sensors. The equipment was installed and specified by Cardiff-based CMB Engineering. Wilo Salmson, CMB Engineering and ABP have all played important parts in the redevelopment of this once thriving harbour.
