The Region of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, has undertaken an ambitious CAD $320 million project designed to reduce odors, further improve effluent quality and increase the efficiency and reliability of its Kitchener, Waterloo wastewater treatment plant.
Construction is underway in Kitchener on upgrades to a wastewater treatment plant; and the $320 million project is being undertaken by multiple contractors. An initial contract, which involved digested sludge pumping, was completed in fall 2013. Construction is currently being carried out on three other contracts. The lead consultant is engineering giant AECOM.
AECOM is the lead consultant for detailed design and construction contract administration. CIMA is lending a hand on design and contract administration on a tertiary treatment building.
This work is scheduled for completion by fall 2017.
