For years, the changing nature of wastewater has posed challenges for pump operators at utilities, municipalities, and industrial wastewater process plants. To help preserve freshwater resources, reduced-consumption devices such as toilets, shower heads, and water-consuming appliances have become the standard. This progression has had the effect of making the wastewater more solid than fluid. When disposable wipes were introduced, the content of solids in the wastewater systems increased further. This has caused a significant increase in ‘clogged pump’ events causing many operators frustration and additional budget impact due to the costs to clear these clogs.
