Ever wonder about the nuances of the pump industry? What seems to be a straightforward piece of equipment actually comprises of an entire industry full of both opportunities and challenges. For a behind the scenes look at this industry, Pump Engineer had the pleasure of speaking with Kristo Naude, pumpSubject Matter Expert (SME) and Senior Engineer, who shed some light on issues including efficiency and accuracy, how to solve common pump problems, and the crucial role of a SME.
Kristo Naude obtained a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1986, and an MBA through the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 1998. After completing his engineering degree from the University of Pretoria, he completed two years years of military service before beginning an engineering position with Eskom, a power utility in South Africa. This was a substantial first role, as in the late 1980s Eskom was generating over 60% of the power on the entire African continent.
