The approximately USD $100 million SELA “Pump to the River” project in Harahan, Louisiana is on the cusp of completion. The project, which was initiated in 2011, involves the re-routing of drainage for the Harahan and River Ridge areas, from a five-mile trek through canals, to a path less than half that length to the Mississippi River. It is now estimated that after years of invested time and energy, the project is now 85 percent completed.
Workers are currently wrapping up construction on the new pumping station. When that is complete, the focus will shift to the levee pipes leading to the river, where they’ll connect the two projects.
The scheduled full completion date is Winter 2017.
