Oman: methanol facility

Oman Oil Co. (OOC) has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract to South Korea-based GS Engineering & Construction Co. to build a methanol production facility in the Salalah Free Zone. The contract is worth USD 900 million. Salalah Methanol Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of OOC has been set up to own, operate and maintain this plant. Commercial operations are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2010.
