KRG Utility completes static pipe bursting project

KRG Utility Inc., a leading sewer and water rehabilitation service company servicing North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, recently completed the Northeastern Interception (NEI) Rehabilitation Phase 2 project, in response to a series of Wilmington sanitary sewer overflows leading up to 2007.

The project involved more than 5,000 feet of ductile iron pipe bursting. A specially designed cutter configuration from TT Technologies was used to split the host pipe. The NEI Phase 2 project consisted of cleaning, CCTV and pipe bursting of approximately 5,140 linear feet of 20-in. ductile iron pipe and replacement with 20-in. Fusible PVC sewer force main. The project also included replacement of three air and vacuum/pressure air release valve assemblies, bypass pumping, traffic control and surface restoration.
