Kazakhstan: Bhatinda refinery project

Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd-Mittal Energy Ltd (HMEL), the joint venture between state-run Hindustan Petroleum and Mittal Energy Investment Pte Ltd, has awarded INR 1400crore worth of contracts to a Kazakhstan firm in their upcoming Bhatinda refinery project in Punjab. HMEL signed agreements for the contracts with JSC OGCC KazStroyServise (KSS) and its subsidiaries. KSS is a Kazakhstan engineering firm headquartered at Almaty and is the parent company for Petron Engineering Construction Ltd and Petron Civil Engineering Pvt Ltd. KSS and subsidiaries will be carrying out construction of Sulphur Unit, Heaters, Structure work for refinery unit including CDU & VDU and select refinery buildings. The refinery along with a captive power plant of about 165MW, crude oil pipeline from Mundra (Gujarat) to Bhatinda (Punjab) with Single Plant Mooring and crude oil terminal at Mundra, will cost HMEL INR 18,919crores. The refinery will produce petroleum products complying with Euro IV emission norms and is expected to be completed by early 2011.
