Union power minister Mr Sushi Kumar Shinde said that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs accorded the investment approval to the 600MW Kameng Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh on 2nd December 2004. Mr Shinde added that the cost of the project as per CCEA clearance is INR 2496.90 crore at March 2004 price level. The total power generation capacity of project is expected to be 600MW with 4 units of 150MW each. The project is currently under construction and a provisional expenditure of INR 606.26 crore has been incurred so far up to 31 October 2007. The project is now scheduled for commissioning by March 2011.
