Flowserve Pump Division has been awarded an order by Thailand’s Royal Irrigation Department for the Pasak River Dam project. The order for six vertical mixed flow pumps is valued at USD 792,000 and will be delivered by December 2002. These Flowserve vertical circulating pumps (type 50SKXH) are single-stage models with semi-radial flow bowls. They will be applied in irrigation, drainage and flood control as required. This order is part of a 19.2 billion baht (approximately USD 440 million) irrigation and environmental rehabitlitation and development program to minimise drought and flood problems in the 3.65 million acre Pasak River basin, north of Bangkok. The Pasak Cholasidh Dam is an earthfill dam with a 960 million cubic metre reservoir that will provide flood relief and an adequate water supply for Lop Buri, Saraburi, and the neighbouring Chao Phraya River area. Group A pumps will take water from the reservoir and transport it along a 6.2 km (3.8 miles) long steel pipeline of 1.8m (6ft) diameter to provide irrigation to 11,720 acres of higher ground. Similarly, Group B pumps will taker water from the reservoir and transport it along 7.9km (4.9 miles) long steel pipeline of 1.8m (6ft) diameter to provide irrigation to 11,400 acres of land. Additionally, this project will support water transportation and fish conservation efforts for the region.
