Able Instruments and Controls is supplying a field instrumentation package to the Dragon LNG terminal project. The Dragon LNG import, storage and regasification terminal in Waterston, Milford Haven, South West Wales, owned by BG Gas, Petronas and 4Gas, consists of the unloading jetty, two LNG storage tanks, LNG gasification and gas export facilities. The terminal will be able to receive and unload 71,000m to 165,000m capacity LNG carriers in 24 hours. The average gas send-out rate will be 700,000m/h. This terminal alone will provide the UK with up to 7% of its natural gas. The package consists of various technologies to measure a range of process parameters including flow, level and pressure, for use throughout the full regasification process, from unloading the LNG tankers, to pumping the final product off site. Technologies chosen include venturi, orifice, variable area and ultrasonic flow; pressure, differential pressure and temperature gauges and transmitters; PH, conductivity, flue gas and wobbe index analysers.
